Taiwan's Frontline Island on High Alert Amid Chinese Drone Incursions | Vantage with Palki Sharma

One of Taiwan's frontline islands, the Erdan Island, is on high alert amid provocations by Chinese drones. The island, located just five kilometres from the Chinese coast, is a part of Taiwan's Kinmen Island chain. Apart from the regular military presence of Chinese warplanes and vessels near the island, Taiwan is now facing intrusions from Chinese civilian drones that conduct surveillance and cause disturbances to its troops stationed on the island. In response to escalating tensions caused by Chinese drone activities, Taipei has asked its soldiers on Erdan island to heighten their vigilance in order to counter the drone threat. Beijing claims Taiwan as an inseparable part of its territory and has not ruled out use of force to assert control over it.
