Pit Bull Killed By DC Police After Woman, 2 Children Were Injured When Animal Attacked

A Washington, D.C. police officer shot and killed a dog that attacked a woman and two children Monday night.

The Metropolitan Police department says in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the officer witnessed the attack on 49th Street and fired at the dog and killed it.

The woman and children were transported to the hospital, conscious and breathing.

Officials say the dog was a pit bull. The another dog, a rottweiler, saw the attack and tried to defend the woman, but that the pit bull would not let go of the woman's arm. The outlet also reported that the woman is expected to recover.
