What is behind Fort Detrick’s Biological Army Laboratories?

In the COVID-19 origin study, the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick in the U.S. state of Maryland has repeatedly come to the spotlight. “In July 2019 -a retirement community experienced a mysterious infectious disease with symptoms of pneumonia. The community is only about 60 miles from Fort Detrick nearly a quarter of the residents were infected in half a month. In view of this large-scale infection and death, the official said; that it was because of a virus that causes the common cold.”

2018: Heavy rain causes flooding at Fort Detrick. Operations at Fort Detrick’s BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories are shut down due to flooding and leakage in hazardous waste storage tanks. Workers discovered flooding in the facility on May 17, and on May 25, a leak was discovered in a storage tank outside the plant’s concrete containment wall. USAMRIID temporarily halted activities at the BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories as water from the SSP could have been released to the site around the SSP building.

2019: Frederick News-Post reports that BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories at Fort Detrick are suspended and shut down. Two breaches reported by USAMRIID to the CDC identified problems with the wastewater treatment system that did not meet established standards as well as problems with the periodic recertification of staff and its ability to “implement and maintain containment procedures” used in operations at biosafety level 3 and 4 laboratories.
