Babyface: Nancy Carroll

Who was the "star of the talkies", the "child of Manhattan" with links to the underworld of Times Square? This was Nancy Carroll (1903-1965) who starred in over forty films, many of which have not been remastered and released by Paramount & Universal. Why is that?
