Revelation chapter 17 presents John's vision of a Great Whore sitting on a scarlet Beast.
This Great Whore is adorned with jewels and dressed in purple and scarlet, and she holds a golden cup full of abominations and the filth of her fornication.
John also notes that the harlot has a name written on her forehead, "Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth."
