Sun Myung Moon was born in Korea in 1920. He had an interesting life. He was raised in a Confucianist home as a small boy but when he was still young his family converted to Christianity and he attended a Presbyterian church. He was sentenced to 5 years in a communist prison – a labor camp - for alleged spying – once there was a north and south korea starting in 1945 if I remember right. He had traveled to North Korea to preach in 1946 when he was arrested. He hated communism – and rightly so. The Moonies were highly influential in political matters in America and other countries – including Japan. Moon died at the age of 92 in 2012.

Moon claims Jesus appeared to him on Easter Sunday 1936 [when he was 15 years old] on a mountainside and asked him to continue the work that he could not finish while he was on earth, due to the "tragedy" of his crucifixion.

This of course is utter nonsense. Notice Moon says Jesus told him that He did “not finish” His work on earth due to His being crucified. But this is precisely why Jesus did come – he came to die; He came to be crucified. Jesus did complete His work when He was crucified. He did finish His work. That is why He said Himself in John 19:30 – the very last words He spoke before He died – It is finished. This is why we refer to Christ’s work at Calvary as “The finished work of Christ.”

What needed to be done to procure man’s salvation – to make salvation available for man - was accomplished by Christ in His death and crucifixion.
