Camille Lamy, a 12-year-old girl living in Austin, Texas was accused of a racist act by an overreacting substitute teacher. Racism is an act of intent. Not every perceived "microaggression" is an act of aggression at all. Context matters and adults should understand that fact. In the Easter season, we should reflect on the nature of forgiveness and both giving and receiving grace, deserved or otherwise. And perhaps some of us should be praying for the discernment to tell the difference between actual racism and imagined racism that, in their minds, is hiding around every corner.
