Bordeaux, a city in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, is home to the Monument aux Girondins. This imposing fountain, located on the vast square and public-transport hub Esplanade des Quinconces, is a captivating sight. Let’s dive into the details:

Monument aux Girondins:
Location: Esplanade des Quinconces, Bordeaux, 33000.
Description: The fountain is a riot of horses, created between 1894 and 1902 in honor of the Girondins, a group of moderate, bourgeois National Assembly deputies during the French Revolution. Tragically, 22 of them were executed in 1793 after being convicted of counter-revolutionary activities.
Symbolism: The sculptures have allegorical meanings. In the center, you’ll find a sculpture of a woman representing the Republic. Another fountain features a woman holding an olive tree branch, symbolizing the triumph of AgreemenBordeaux France Exploring a great City ,18th August 2016 a second hand shop Art Nuovo
Bordeaux is a city on the river Garonne in the Gironde department, southwestern France. A port city, it is the capital of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, as well as the prefecture of the Gironde department. Its inhabitants are called "Bordelais" (masculine) or "Bordelaises" (feminine). The term "Bordelais" may also refer to the city and its surrounding region. In 1993 I cycled from Chester England to Biarritz in the Southwest of France in 13 days. I went through Bourdeaux where I had a puncture. I did not have time to explore the city at the time. So, in 2016 I decided to head back there to take a look around. Its a great city with great people. And the hostel I stayed at was the best. Right by the river. I have been there a few times since. Chris Summerfield video and photography sine 1992.
