Stevie Ray Vaughan wrote the song "Life Without You" after the untimely death of his great friend and mentor Charley Wirz. It was released on the Soul to Soul album, the third studio album by American blues rock band Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble released on September 30, 1985, by Epic Records.
