Jacob suggested quite the opposite: he argued independent, unelected authorities like the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) are more of a concern.

Rather, Jacob suggested that politicians rely on the votes of consumers to stay in power, and hence are more likely to act in consumers' interests.
