But none are left unmarked from the arrival of the Old One, and Hawk was the same. Werewolves, vampires, every monster of dark fantasy that Hawk once thought were only myth and legend attacked from out of the shadow, and Hawk could not remain unscathed for long. He was bitten, he was changed, and soon he became the Feral King...the greatest of all the Werewolves yet more than every werewolf. His Unity with the Empty Kind made the Feral King able to stay in wolf form forever, made him bigger and more rage filled, and made all he bit connected with him. The Feral King never controlled those he bit, but he could feel the passion that his Feral Pups had for the hunt, their elation in a kill, and he could even...if he focused...see a hunt through their eyes. But Burn killed so many of his Feral Pups. Burn killed both of the Empty Kind. Burn even, somehow, could not be stopped no matter how many times the Feral King cut him so terribly. Now the Feral King is wounded, trapped in a corner of a small cave, and Burn has gotten his Ancient Axe back.
