Burn: The Last Witness

(The Midnight Hunt)
*As soon as the fight with the Feral King begins, Burn is terribly outmatched. With the Ancient Axe too far to scoop up immediately, the battle becomes fists and claws with Burn taking many a grievous wound.
But in the midst of that horror, his blood saturating way too much of the rocky ground, a miracle is found. The clothes Burn wears now are not the clothes that were given to him by the Elders of the Citadel when Burn first was anointed as Witness. Such clothes were miracles themselves, able to help guide him through the Shine and away from many a danger due to a subtle psychic bond those clothes have with any Witness. But those clothes were taken by the Blood Empress long ago, stripped right off after she defeated him, and Burn only got new ones after his escape from her.
Stumbling upon the Workers of the Way, men who still hold to faith in the darkened earth and offer aid and comfort to any in need, Burn was given a new jacket, new everything, with those men only saying that what they gave was always in wait for him. But without any psychic bond that Burn can feel from his jacket, or anything else, he thinks nothing of what he wears until this battle.
His new clothes have always been able to stitch themselves whole whenever they were torn, but with deep gouges along much of his flesh Burn is shocked when what he wears suddenly flows into those wounds to stitch him back whole as well. The clothing of the Workers of the Way allows Burn to be able to stay in the fight, striking back at the Feral King and perhaps returning the Ancient Axe to his hands.
At the highest moment of the battle, with Burn bleeding bad and the Feral King seemingly seconds away from victory, the Feral King scooped up the Ancient Axe. He found that in his claws it turned into a sword not nearly as impressive as what the weapon is whenever Burn clutches it tight [AI Art]*
