On Tuesday morning, Capitol Police apprehended 13 protesters who were engaged in a demonstration against the Supreme Court’s consideration of restrictions on the abortion pill mifepristone.

The Supreme Court justices are currently hearing arguments regarding the legality of the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to ease restrictions, facilitating access to the drug for terminating pregnancies.

Mifepristone, the initial pill in a two-drug regimen used for medication abortion, is among the most commonly utilized methods of abortion in the United States.

According to Capitol Police, the 13 protesters were observed moving across the Capitol grounds and were found to be “illegally blocking roads and a walkway.”

Concurrently, there were significant competing demonstrations taking place outside the building, ABC News reported.
