Built in the 1930s. for transportation of timber, today the Absheron road is used to connect remote villages with the mainland, and the narrow-gauge railway in the Guam Gorge is a popular tourist attraction - a recreational diesel locomotive runs along the giant chasm between the Guam and Lago-Naki ridges all year round.

🌳 Diesel locomotive TU8 runs along a two-kilometer track at a speed of 15 km/h, it has only 3 open cars. From the windows of the diesel locomotive you can see picturesque views of the Kurdzhips River, four-hundred-meter-high cliffs overgrown with relict trees and waterfalls falling from the mountain slopes. An audio guide operates while the train is moving.

This is interesting. In 2007, a snow removal train fell off a narrow-gauge railway in the Guam Gorge. They did not lift it from the bottom of the canyon and today passengers can see it among the waters of the Kurdzhips River.

☕️ Diesel locomotive in 20 minutes. travels the distance from the railway ticket office in the Guam Gorge to the stopping point "Urochishche Monakhovo". Here you can visit a small cafe "1707".

You can return by the same train or on foot along the abandoned Apsheronskaya narrow-gauge railway to the village of Mezmay (distance is 6 km.)

You can get to the Guam Gorge by car or by train to Krasnodar or Maykop, and from there by bus to Apsheronsk, then by minibus to Guamka.

Would you like to travel through the Guam Gorge on such a train? Or have you already experienced these emotions? Then share your impressions with us.
