The British Fired Artillery at Their Own Cities During WW2?!?

This is a wild episode that it too unbelievable to be true. The British actually fired artillery on their own cities during the Battle of Britain, killing their own citizens en masse, in order to keep them going to work in the munitions factories the next day. The moral of this episode is that you have to literally question everything. Apparently, no far-fetched, absolutely absurd story is too ridiculous to be true.
