Psalm 22 is a prophetic psalm looking to the time when Jesus Christ was on the cross. Jesus Christ endured the physical agony of being crucified as well as the wrath of God upon Him, afflicting Him and bruising Him. Psalm 22 gives you an idea of the suffering that Jesus Christ went through and provides more information than the four Gospel accounts of His crucifixion. Jesus Christ was forsaken by God the Father as Jesus Christ was made sin for you. Your sins were charged to Him and His righteousness was given to you. When you believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you became a child of God and the righteousness of Jesus Christ was applied to you.
