The CIA partnered with the FBI dirty tricks division called COINTELPRO where they manipulated US media, killed Americans including journalists, ran smear campaigns against media figures, election interference, illegal human drug experimentation, and even tried to break up MLK's marriage and tried to get him to kill himself.

And of course, the ultimate is Allen Dulles, the disgraced for er CIA director who was fired for cause by President Kennedy and then ended up running the Warren Commission to cover up the murder.
