The United Nations Palestinian Rights Committee organized a lecture on the Balfour Declaration and the impact it has had on the Palestinian people. The lecture by Professor Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University and director of the Middle East Institute of Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs took place on 2 November 2017 in the ECOSOC Chamber of the United Nations Secretariat in New York. It brought together a broad range of participants, including members of the diplomatic community in New York, UN staff members, representatives of civil society organizations and the general public. The session was chaired by Amb. Jerry Matthews Matjila of South Africa.
