Thinking The World’s Way Out of Nuclear War

The world is now on a fast path to a civilization-destroying thermonuclear war. Whatever the origins of Friday’s paramilitary terrorist attack on a concert hall in Russia, with at least 133 people now known dead, it is undeniable that, as with the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, Russia now considers itself to be in a state of war with NATO.

Should it be determined that the attack on Russia yesterday originated with NATO forces—and let it be noted that Ukraine has so far denied any role in it—Russia is determined, in the words of its recently re-elected President Putin, that “All perpetrators, organizers and masterminds behind this crime will get just and inevitable punishment. Whoever they are, whoever guides them. I repeat: we will identify and punish everyone who stands behind the terrorists, who prepared this atrocity, this attack on Russia, on our people.”

A responsible voice must immediately emerge from within the United States, strong and clear enough to represent a counter-pole to NATO’s mad drive to World War Three. On this, the 41st anniversary of the adoption of Lyndon LaRouche’s solution to nuclear war, the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI)by the United States Presidency, a “Red Alert” mobilization of this, and all nations, must be undertaken in time—for, as Dr. Martin Luther King said, “In this unfolding conundrum of life and history there is such a thing as being too late.”
