I did this work with white AC2 mortar.
First, I applied a very thin layer of mortar as if it were on a wall or floor, I left it to dry overnight and only then applied it with Mortar to create the brick effect.
1 bag of mortar weighing 20 kg made 3 m2
I let it dry for a bit, like half curing, then I took measurements of the bricks and used a ruler and a screwdriver to make the grout lines.
I let it dry overnight, I used 120 grit sandpaper just to remove small burrs and then I applied 3 coats of water-based acrylic resin to finish.
