City Manager Harry Black signed a $393,000 severance package Saturday, and city council will meet Monday to consider the deal. Black and Mayor John Cranley confirmed a deal later in the day. Black called it "amicable and mutually acceptable" and "fair" and asked council to approve it. Vice Mayor Christopher Smitherman said Black signed it in the afternoon after council member Jeff Pastor brokered the deal, which represents 18 months' pay. It was then taken to City Hall. The deal would "stop the bloodletting" between Black, Mayor John Cranley and city council, Pastor said Saturday, adding he was "excited and more happy for the citizens of Cincinnati."
