Post Office Lawyer Jarnail Singh admits that 'foolproof' Horizon machines could go wrong but is seemingly not able to explain to Jason Beer KC at the Post Office Inquiry why he didn't make an attempts to verify the accuracy of Horizon data that he was provided beyond getting someone to sign a witness statement saying it was installed and running perfectly.
Whilst admitting that audit data should have always been sought, he struggles to explain how the Post Office could even prove that had a loss had occurred without it saying that he relied on the auditors to check the information.
