Out Of Control Chairlift In Gudauri

It was not a good day for skiing. A terrible accident occurred on a ski lift in Gudauri, Georgia when a malfunctioning elevator accelerated to a high speed and started crushing passengers. Some skiers started to panic and could be seen jumping off onto the mountain as their chairs sped backward. Others held on until they were at the bottom of the lift but they were thrown in the air by the force of their chair getting whipped back around the line. There were a lot of passengers that suffered from injuries. The ones who risked jumping off the ski lift, injured their legs. However, those descending to the foot of the mountain have suffered much more serious injuries, because they would be crushed into piled up metal seats. It’s tragic to see how one beautiful sunny day can be turned into a horrible event!

This dreadful event occurred on March 16, 2018, in Gudauri, Georgia. Gudauri is a ski resort located on the south-facing plateau of The Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia. Make sure when you go on skiing is to be prepared, because things like this can often happen. Always wear proper ski equipment. Follow the rules. Do not go off-trail. Obey posted trail closure and other warning signs. They are there for a reason!
