The penguins have always been a people magnet at the Aquarium Of  Niagara. They are especially fun to watch in their new 3.5 million dollar home. According to Executive Director Gary Siddall "We have been around fifty years and have never taken on anything this huge. Three and a half million dollars is more than our operating budget." Specialty contractors were employed to create the climate controlled home for the warm weather Peruvian penguins. Gary says the exhibit temperature sits between sixty-eight and seventy degrees "warmer then our public areas". There's a sky light, a special LED lighting system and a fifteen thousand gallon salt water tank that stays at sixty-four degrees. The birds can look awkward on land, but once they hit the water they steal the show. You can find more information about the new exhibit called Penguin Coast at the Aquarium of Niagara website.
