After winning the Atlantic 10 Conference, Duquesne's eight-game winning streak and first-ever NCAA Tournament berth (1977) preceded BYU's recent elimination from the Big 12 tournament due to bad shooting. BYU has had difficulty lately, failing to qualify for the NCAA since 2021.
