*Pertussis:*

As of March 9, 2024 (Morbidity Week 10), a total of 453 pertussis cases were reported. This is 1,870% higher compared to the 23 cases reported during the same period last year.

Nationally, a 12% increase in pertussis cases was observed in the recent three to four weeks (February 11 to 24, 2024) with 123 cases compared to 110 cases reported two weeks prior (January 28 to February 10, 2024).

At the regional level, Region XII showed increase in cases in the recent 1-2 weeks (February 25 to March 9, 2024), reporting 1 new case in the recent 4 weeks, while Regions I, II, IV-A, IV-B, VI, VII, IX, and Caraga showed an increase in cases in the recent 3-4 weeks (February 11 to 24, 2024) compared to the two weeks prior. These regions reported 1-39 cases in the recent 4 weeks.

There are 35 reported deaths from January 1 to March 9, 2024, resulting in a case fatality rate (CFR) of 7.73% for 2024.
