"I’m sure all of you have seen the news in recent weeks regarding squatters, including a recent high-profile case of a homeowner who was arrested for trying to remove a squatter from her home. These incidents are happening in my district, and it's unacceptable.

I have been monitoring these cases very closely, as they often have details which may not be readily apparent to outside observers, but the point remains that grave injustices are being endured by homeowners thanks to a deeply broken system which overwhelmingly protects lawbreakers.

These homeowners along with many others facing similar issues have been in my office and met with me to discuss their cases. I am doing everything in my power to assist and advocate for them.

I have a long history of confronting squatters directly and fiercely advocating for the property rights of our citizens in this district and citywide. And with these recent events, it's time to say enough is enough.

This coming Monday, March 25th at 6:30 pm, I will be hosting a press conference on these ongoing cases, as well as New York property laws and how they hurt property owners and landlords. The location will be provided in a media advisory to follow shortly.

I invite everyone who has been affected by New York’s property laws to stand with me on Monday. District 19 will not stay quiet in the face of the continued erosion of property rights or the activists who push this on us."
