The Devil’s Glen shows an amazing landscape that was created at the end of the Ice Age when the water from melting ice sheet created the valley. As a result a gorge was created. It descends to the Vartry River The forest consists of a mixture of broad leaf and conifers with fine stands of beech, Spanish chestnut and ash. The walls of the gorge are steep. They are covered with various species of mosses, lichens and polypody fern. It not a very difficult walk. It takes around 2 hours and is suitable for anybody with moderate fitness. We did it together with our two year old :)
