The Russian Army has defeated Ukrainian forces yet again in the Donetsk region. On March 19, Russia announced that its forces had captured new territory in the region. The Russian Army said that it has taken complete control over the village of Orlivka. The townlet is about four kilometres (2.5 miles) west of Avdiivka in east Ukraine. The capture of Orlivka comes just a day after Vladimir Putin's election victory.
