Kitty Cat Rescue Mission!

Hi Friends!

There are hundreds of stray dogs and cats living in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, India. Normally they would get a lot of support from tourists who feed them and refer the sick or injured one to rescue organisations. hence the cats and dogs are starving and those sick or injured quite often are not being reported and die a horrible death on the street. Many pregnant dogs and puppies are being dumped on the rever and the population of stray dogs is growing again.

There are no other animal rescue organisations in Karwi and Chitrakoot, and the Animal Shelter Chitrakoot is running out of resources and much needed funds to be able to care for all the animals there that need support. The shelter can only afford a part time vet who is not able to do all the required spaying/neutering in the region.

We are going to hire a full time vet who is able to spay/neuter 120 dogs a month, thus reducing the overpopulation issue. We will also ensure we have enough staff to handle all of the feeding of the stray animals in the areas where there is no-one to feed them. We will also do more outreach work to ensure we reach all the sick and injured dogs who need our assistance, and that we keep finding best adopters for the animals. Our wonderful shelter manager and veterinary nurse, Brendy, is overseeing the whole programme and ensuring we help all the animals in the most efficient and caring way.

All the dogs in Karwi and Chitrakoot that need feeding, treatment, care will be supported by us. All the dogs that need to be spayed/neutered will be operated on. All the dogs will be vaccinated against rabies. More people will hear about our programmes and will be able to come forward with any cases of animals that need our care. By raising awareness, we will also be able to find good potential adopters who might have not considered adopting from a shelter or the street before. Overall, we aim to reduce the suffering of the hundreds of stray dogs and cats living in Chitrakoot.
