LAPD release bodycam footage when an officer was shot in the hand during restraining order call
A Los Angeles police officer was shot in the hand Friday morning in Pacoima while attempting to arrest a suspect in a domestic case, officials said.
The shooting occurred as officers were responding to a restraining order violation in the 13200 block of Paxton Street around 8:20 a.m.
“As officers approached the house, they started to engage with the suspect and attempted to de-escalate the situation,” the police department posted on X, formerly Twitter. “The officers entered the house to take the suspect into custody when they were involved in a use of force, a taser was deployed to no effect.”
At that point, according to police, a handgun the suspect was carrying discharged, striking the officer’s hand. The officer was transported to a nearby hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
The suspect, a 50-year-old man, was not seriously injured and was taken into custody.
