A crucial element of the currently popular scenario for "the End Times" is a "7-year Tribulation Period" just before Jesus returns. It is presented as "assumed truth" & beyond question, but where does it actually appear in the Bible?

Would you be surprised if the idea of a 2-phase Second Coming (secret rapture, seven year tribulation period, then glorious appearance) is only about 200 years old? Would you be surprised to learn that you cannot find a "7-year Tribulation period" or a 3.5-year "Great Tribulation" in the Bible? You have to learn those ideas elsewhere and then "imagine" them into Bible passages where the "experts" tell you to do so.

I believed these things until I began asking tough questions and examining each element in the currently popular scenario to see if each really portrayed what the Bible writers were telling us. If the smaller topics are distorted fictions, then what does that say about the bigger picture assembled from them? Are people being taught to be excited about things that will never unfold as they have been taught? I believe they are, because these same things are taught decade after decade, with "signs that Jesus' return is "very near," yet Jesus never shows up on schedule. I am not denying that Jesus will return - but it will probably not be accompanied with all of the stuff that people have been taught to expect. If you care about the "Biblical Validity" of what you are being taught, please at least "hear me out" and then consult Scripture to see if these things are so (Acts 17:11).
