Trump is unable to make $464 million bond in civil fraud case, his lawyers tell court

Donald Trump’s legal team informed a New York appeals court that the former president has encountered difficulties securing an insurance company to underwrite his bond, intended to cover the substantial judgment against him in the civil fraud case brought by the New York attorney general.

According to Trump’s lawyers, he has reached out to approximately 30 underwriters in an attempt to obtain backing for the bond, which is required to be furnished by the end of this month.

“The amount of the judgment, with interest, exceeds $464 million, and very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude,” Trump’s lawyers wrote, CNN reported.
