You can train a dog to do a surprising number of activities. We have seen research that suggest dogs can recognize up to 250 different words and separately around that same number of gestures.

We are always amazed at dogs who can delay their desire for treats…

Australian Shepherds, which we believe this dog is, tend to be some of the smartest breeds of dog. This is because they were bred to be herd dogs which requires a certain level of decision making, concentration and intelligence. Because of this, Australian Shepherds require activities that exercise brains. They tend to make their own work if they do not have enough mental stimulation (usually with things like digging or chewing). That was all written to give you an understanding of how intelligent and what strong memories that Australian Shepherds have. They are relatively easy to train but do have a “What’s in it for me?” attitude. Which is to say that Australian Shepherds can be just a skosh sassy. We mean, look at that denial face!
