Myth of Qur'an & Science - Part I

Though the Qur'an contains verses of clear-cut scientific indications, it's not a book of science and wasn't intended to be.
Some argue that the Quran contains numerous verses that appear to accurately describe various scientific phenomena, ranging from embryology to cosmology, long before these concepts were empirically understood. Proponents of this view posit that such apparent foreknowledge is evidence of the Quran's divine origin and a proof of its miraculous nature. However, this claim remains highly controversial within academic circles. Critics contend that such interpretations often involve reading modern scientific concepts into vague or metaphorical Quranic verses through confirmation bias and selective analysis. They argue that the Quran, being a religious scripture, aims to provide ethical and spiritual guidance rather than a scientific treatise. While the Quran encourages the pursuit of knowledge, the idea of it predicting modern science is a myth perpetuated through pseudoscientific exegesis that lacks empirical grounding. This debate underscores the importance of maintaining critical distance when attempting to reconcile ancient religious texts with contemporary scientific theories.
