To change from a descent to an ascent using a Reverso device, follow these steps:

Secure Yourself: Ensure you are securely anchored to the belay using the appropriate anchor system.

Lock Off: If you're currently rappelling or lowering, lock off the rope by pulling it through the Reverso device until it is in the locked position. This prevents any accidental slippage.

Clip In: Clip a personal anchor system or sling into the rope above the Reverso device using a locking carabiner. This provides you with a secure attachment point while transitioning.

Reorient the Device: Rotate the Reverso device so that the brake-hand side becomes the lead-hand side. This involves flipping the device over while keeping it connected to the anchor point.

Remove Lock: Once the device is properly oriented for belaying, release the lock on the rope by pulling it downwards, allowing the rope to move freely through the device.

Start Ascending: Begin ascending the rope using a suitable ascending technique, such as using mechanical ascenders or prusik knots, while managing the rope with the Reverso device as needed.

Maintain Awareness: Throughout the transition and ascent, maintain awareness of your surroundings and the condition of the rope, anchor, and belay system.

Additionally, it's crucial to practice these techniques in a controlled environment before attempting them in the field.
