The Hutchison effect may well be at play, or some other energy phenomena capable of peculiarly eroding cars hundreds of yards away. John Hutchison's experiments are not thought to be fakes AFAIK. And in case you haven't studied this work, please look into the Canadian Government's interactions with him - they appeared to take him very seriously even though to traditional Science his methods should not have such significant repercussions.
