The Name

God has invested His power in His word. You hear a lot today about the “power of the name.” Just speak the name of Jesus and it'll happen. But it's important to remember that “the name” in the Old Testament was a reference to God. He was called “Hashem -- the name.” And when they said, “Hashem,” they were referring to that name that they would not even utter.

And when Jesus told us to ask of the Father in His name, “My name” means, “according to My character and My revealed will.” And that's where the power is. And this is why in Psalm 138:2, he says, “You have magnified your word above your very name.” Try to think of this from the framework of an Old Testament Jew who would not even utter the name "YHWH" being told that God "has magnified his word above His very name."

So we begin to understand that in the pages of this book are truths that carry the weight and the power of God. We have the opportunity -- each and every one of us -- to absorb the power that God has invested in His Word into our souls and into our lives.

We can all have a great impact on the lives of other people... if we let the word of God go to work in our life.
