Water Management Plan lists all the existing water systems managed by the RDCK. The "Matrix" system is used but not regularly updated. The plan states the goal is to reduce consumption by 20%. Two concerns: 1) There is a problem with leakage in systems 2) Vanderberge is concerned about the impact on agriculture in Creston Valley.
Watershed Management Plan is being explored. Jackman noted that if the RDCK created a Regional Water Governance Plan this would give the RDCK a new level of authority. Question was raised if Watersheds could be included in Asset Management?
Cunningham asked that water quality reports could be made available in reports and on the RDCK website. Staff did not feel that the public could understand as it's too complicated.
Lots of discussion on the process to include more water systems under the RDCK's governance as there are no funds to do this. As well, what percentage of the population needs to approve the transfer of oversight to the RDCK?
