2024.03.13 Davis County Conservatives - Meet the 2024 Davis County Commission Candidates

At this event, 9 of the 10 Republican Candidates running for a single Davis County Commissioner Seat attended and answered a series of questions.

The candidates in attendance were Tim Roper, John Crofts, Linnea Pearson, Angie Petty, Bret Millburn, Danny Randall, Mike Blackham, Liz Mumford, and Len Arave. All candidates had opportunity to answer the following questions except for Liz Mumford. She had to leave about 30 minutes into the event for another scheduled engagement.

Question 1 (0:12:46) - What is the proper role of government?

Question 2 (0:32:20) - Who did you vote for in the 2020 presidential election, and who do you plan to vote for in the 2024 presidential election?

Question 3 (0:34:34) - In 2002 the citizens of Davis County voted to add fluoride to the water after the county commission voted to put it on the ballot. Would you have voted to allow the citizens of Davis County to vote on water chlorination?

Question 4 (0:38:38) - Would you have voted for a county-wide mask mandate in 2020 and 2021?

Question 5 (0:42:45) - There has been considerable debate on what many consider inappropriate materials in our libraries. Many have been concerned about inappropriate books in our county libraries that are considered pornography. What standard, if any, would you apply to materials that are displayed or books that are in our Davis County libraries?

Question 6 (0:51:45) - If you are elected to county commissioner, what politician would you emulate in that role?

Question 7 (0:58:23) - What is one county department you would reduce funding for or overall eliminate if you were elected?

Question 8 (1:06:07) - What role, if any, should the county play in providing affordable housing for Davis County residents?
