Former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren says one of the ways Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could navigate “more intelligently” with U.S. Democratic leaders is by agreeing to discuss a pathway to peace with Palestinians. “However, on certain basic issues, we can’t concede; the need to destroy Hamas, the need eventually to go into Rafah and uproot Hamas, the need to confront Hezbollah, the need to confront Iran and the Iranian nuclear program. These are all serious, strategic, and in some cases existential threats to the state of Israel and we simply cannot concede. There’s no wiggle room,” says Oren.
