The Liverpool taxman dubbed 'The Devil' was Stephen French. Growing up in Liverpool's Toxteth neighbourhood, French endured pain from an early age. With racism and violence being a part of everyday life, French started committing crime, eventually becoming one of the most feared criminals in his city. He relished his nickname, using it to his advantage whenever he robbed dealers.
