Disney Claims Star Wars IP Made $12 Billion!?

In an SEC filing The Walt Disney Company reported their Star Wars IP has generated $12 Billion since acquiring the rights from George Lucas for $4.05 Billion.

This reporting sounds like good news on the surface until examining the individual costs for Star Wars related content which includes movies, streaming shows, theme park expansions, etc. When taking all of these into consideration it’s entirely possible Disney as a whole has not made money from Star Wars at all.
