Wonder Boy III : Monster Lair is a side-scrolling action game. Monster Lair blends two genres : the platformer and the shooter. It is the third game in the Wonder Boy Series. It is similar to the first Wonder Boy, in that you can only take a single hit, there's a timer at the top of the screen, and there's plenty of fruit to collect in order to refill it. Released for arcade in 1988 and later ported for TurboGrafx in 1989 and Sega Megadrive in 1990.

Story
Many years have passed since Book saved Monster Land, and his legend is passed down by generations. Now the land is attacked again, and the young Leo and Purapril set out to stop the invaders to prove that they can be as gallant in battle against the enemy as he had once been.
