"Fighting Child Labor Globally: Together Against Exploitation in Corporate Supply Chains -
A Call to Action for Ethical Practices Worldwide"

Fernando Morales De La Cruz, journalist, has been investigating child labor in the supply chains of all businesses in developed nations for 10 years. He is currently in Davos for the 14th time, where he is urging the World Economic Forum and all corporate members to release all children from their work situations. He points out that out of the 2,500 Forum participants, more than 75 million children are part of their supply chains, not even including Chinese children. When accounting for Chinese children, the estimated number could be around 110 to 120 million children working just for the 2,500 delegates. De La Cruz criticizes the lack of action by the Forum and its members in eliminating child and forced labor from global supply chains. He also calls out Norway, a country with a $1.3 trillion investment fund in over 9,200 companies, for benefitting from exploitation.

De La Cruz has written to the Prime Ministers of Norway twice, expressing his concerns about the lack of action and apparent indifference to the issues raised. He believes it is time to respect children's rights to education, release all children from labor, and employ adults instead. He has also written to Pope Francis in the hope that he will intervene and find a way to compel the World Economic Forum and its members to respect the rights of all children. De La Cruz asserts that it is time for someone to start changing business models, even if it incurs costs.
