United States and United Nations have expressed concerns after India implemented the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). “We are concerned that India's Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA) is fundamentally discriminatory in nature and in breach of India's international human rights obligations,” UN High Commissioner For Human Rights told Reuters. Whereas, the United States said it’s “closely monitoring” how the religion-based citizenship law will play out.
