“[Democrats] did try to slip in a bill that would allow for automatic voter registration and basically what the bill said is ‘Anyone who applies for a driver’s license would be automatically registered to vote except if they opted out,'” Malliotakis said. “So it put the burden on the individual to say ‘Hey, I’m not eligible. I can’t vote.'

“Very, very dangerous slippery slope here,” Malliotakis said. “We called them out on it … we were able to get that bill pulled from the agenda at the eleventh hour.”
