What are muddy sword Fittings?

When I review swords the fittings are often referred to as muddy or a shadow of what they are trying to emulate. Hopefully this video gives some better information about what I mean by those comments.

I believe the manufacturers can achieve better results than they currently do and would love to see more effort put into the fittings. Hopefully we will see the same progress in the rest of the sword that we have in blades.
