Rare Tyndall effect astonishes
Rare Tyndall effect astonished visitors at a ski resort in northwestern China.
Incredible video filmed in Altay Prefecture in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on March 4, shows a mysterious column of light appearing under the sun, seemingly bridging the gap between heaven and earth, transforming into what seemed like a gateway to an unknown world.
A tourist Mr. Zhou captured the breathtaking sight at the Jiangjunshan Ski Resort, where artificial snow combined with sunlight to create a stunning phenomenon, reminiscent of a portal to another dimension opening.
Zhou reported that this phenomenon lasted for several hours, marking his first encounter with such a sight, likening it to stepping into a scene from a science fiction movie.
Responding to the incident, the Jiangjunshan Ski Resort stated that such occurrences are relatively common lately due to daily artificial snowmaking activities.
The phenomenon is called Tyndall effect, which is light scattering by particles in a colloid such as a very fine suspension.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
