Transatlantic Networks - From Kissinger and Schwab to the Atlantik Brücke - English Subtitles

Many of us sometimes wonder why German politics always goes hand in hand with US policy. In some decisions, the interests of our American friends even seem to outweigh those of our own country, as we can see, for example, with the blown-up gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. It is no secret that there is a particularly close relationship between Germany and the USA. But what exactly is the reason for this? If we look at the transatlantic networks, of which there are many in Germany, we can understand why US interests are so vehemently represented by German politicians. Unnoticed by large sections of the population, networks are pulling the strings in the background that do not necessarily always have the best interests of Germany in mind.

Viele von uns wundern sich manchmal, warum Deutsche Politik immer im Gleichschritt mit US-Amerikanischer Politik einhergeht. In manchen Entscheidungen scheinen die Interessen der amerikanischen Freunde die des eigenen Landes gar zu übertreffen, wie wir z.B. bei den gesprengten Gaspipelines in der Ostsee sehen können. Dass es zwischen Deutschland und den USA eine ganz besonders enge Beziehung gibt, ist kein Geheimnis. Aber woran liegt das genau? Wenn wir uns die transatlantischen Netzwerke ansehen, von denen es auch in Deutschland zahlreiche gibt, können wir verstehen, warum US-Amerikanische Interessen von Deutschen Politikern so vehement vertreten werden. Unbemerkt von großen Teilen der Bevölkerung ziehen Netzwerke im Hintergrund die Fäden, die nicht unbedingt immer das Beste für Deutschland im Sinn haben.
